professional, personalized instruction in faux finish & mural painting

from John Hiemstra, founder
  San Diego Finishing School

October 29, 2007

With so much going on I have had to postpone this year's faux finish & mural painting classes and workshops at SDFS into the 2008 calendar year.

I still plan to announce directly to newsletter subscribers first once I reorganize. Subscribers get first opportunity to register for both online courses and the new workshops in my studio here in San Diego.

I have only 5-6 days per month available for custom classes, so if you are interested in the original format, please inquire sooner rather than later to secure dates.

Thanks again to everyone for your continued support of SDFS while I regroup; I hope you enjoy the upcoming developments on this site and the activities of School and its students.

Remember, you can get an RSS feed to the SDFS News (click below) to keep up on events and specials in the new SDFS Bookstore, and email newsletter subscribers also get first chance to register for classes and workshops.

If you're still not sure exactly what the SDFS experience is all about, please read these testimonials:

"I just wanted to thank you for the class I took in May.  It was a lot of information for two days, but when I thought about all of it later and made notes of the main points that we talked about I found it much easier to comprehend perspective

I have been reading books on perspective and they make more sense to me now because I am able to apply what you taught me.

Thanks again for your time and patience with me."

"... a wealth of experience and knowledge with great interactive style and flexibility. It was everything I was looking for to further build on my art background.

This is every student’s dream. Your pace, your ideas, your work, in a low pressure, comfortable environment.

And John makes you hot tea."

- Maureen, California

This is how I described it on this site last year:

"One-of-a-kind accelerated, customized sessions that teach faux finishing, decorative painting, mural painting and the business of being a professional artist to motivated individuals.

Begin at any skill level. Work at your own pace in classes designed specifically for you, that build on your existing knowledge without repetition while filling in missing fundamentals.

Projects directly related to your personal interests and professional needs conducted in a private studio with all tools and materials supplied.

Personalized instruction in the art of always becoming a better artist, craftsman & business person with every job."

Thanks for exploring SDFS, and please stay in touch as we develop our new programs this year.

Best regards,
John
